Client Testimonials

Blair Nagel

“As a passionate upland game hunter I purchased an 1,800-acre property in North Dakota, with the objective to enhance the habitat to support a healthy wildlife population. Thankfully, I found Clay and Dan and have been working with them for almost ten years. With their expertise, practical approach toward conservation and land management, we have achieved spectacular results. They are at the forefront of the industry and are passionate about the land. I highly recommend Native Range for any of your conservation initiatives.”

Bob Boucher MS.
Water Resource Management

President, Superior Bio Conservancy

“As the Executive Director of the Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation, Land Trust,  I worked with Clay Frazer on a native grassland prairie restoration.  His understanding of the organic process needed for a successful grassland habitat was outstanding. Clay’s training at the “Beaver Institute” has made him a leader in the pioneering movement of non-lethal Beaver Management. His diplomatic skill (and determination) at navigating the DNR wetland permitting process was critical for the first WDNR approval for a Beaver Pond leveler, and a Beaver Dam Analog, (BDA) in Wisconsin.  Five Stars and highly recommended.”

Dale Bogenschneider

"We used Clay and Dan for several projects and would describe them as very knowledgeable, responsive, and reliable. Nice guys that are fun to work with and manage your property as if it was their own. They continue to be a resource, and follow-up long after the project's completion. Fair pricing and we are very happy with the outcomes. I would highly recommend their services."

“Native Range Ecological, LLC has been a trusted partner in maintaining our 2700 ft long coastal Lake Michigan bluff.  This 130 ft high bluff is a complex environment that requires a complicated wholistic and ever-changing plan, involving additional external and internal partners to coordinate ongoing efforts and treatments. Our partnership with Clay and his team ensures the investment that the University has put into our bluff ecosystem will thieve for decades to come.”

Hans Dawson

President, Lannon Stone Products

"We worked with Native Range Ecological (NRE) on a complex, challenging reclamation of a 130-acre abandoned gravel pit in Germantown, WI. The site we took over had not conformed with industry best practices which resulted in little topsoil and allowed invasive species to take over the site. The land needed extensive re-grading to ensure long-term slope stability and safety.

The NRE team did a thorough analysis of the site, anticipating the further challenge of regrading the land and optimizing the health of the onsite lake. They created comprehensive species removal, erosion control, seeding, and site stabilization plans that were used in our bid documents.

NRE also acted as our owner’s representative with our various contractors to ensure that the plans were implemented according to best practices. As construction and reclamation proceeded through a rainy season, they were nimble with analysis of realistic construction methods that would result in site success.

We are entering our second growth season this spring and NRE has helped us transition to our long term maintenance contractor as we continue to rehabilitate this site into one that flourishes with flora and fauna native to Wisconsin.

I would recommend the Native Range Ecological team to anyone looking to bring their land up to the very best that nature offers - a site that we can all be proud of. "

Ian J. Mosbrucker, P.E.

"Native Range Ecological is one of the few ecological consulting firms that I recommend to GZA clients in the Lake Michigan shoreline for native vegetation establishment and maintenance planning in complex bluff slope environments.  Clay and Dan have a wealth of experience and knowledge working on sites with steep slopes and poor soil conditions.  They both actively work with clients and engineers to utilize native vegetation to enhance and improve stability of these difficult sites.  As a geotechnical engineer, I would recommend Native Range Ecological for creating vegetation management plans and performing QA/QC on recently regraded sites, sloped sites and sites with low-nutrient soil conditions."

We look forward to working on future restoration projects with his team and improving the ecological health of Walworth County."

Nan Parson

"I’m very happy to highly recommend Clayton Frazer and Native Range Ecological for any help nature lovers need in protecting the environment and their property.  Clayton helped our lakeside community understand the importance of beaver to the health of our lake and advised us about ways to control them while living among them.

He was thorough in his study of our lake and wrote complete explanations of his findings.  I appreciated his patience and responsiveness to a situation that was a bit controversial.  Not everyone understood the historical and current importance of beaver to Midwest watersheds.  While being cognizant of some resistance, Clay explained with persuasive graphs and professional reports.

So, my husband and I highly recommend Clay and his company for your native restoration needs.  If you’d like to hear more about my recommendation, ask Clay for my contact information."
